Next Steps Mental Health Centre in Church Street is organising a number of activities to raise much-needed funds for the facility.

"They have been very good to us over the years and have offered to provide a donation of up to £1,000 if we can raise the same amount," she added.

"We wanted to do something different so we've organised a variety of things over the week in the hope of raising as much as we can."

Starting on Sunday, September, 14 with a lunch from 12 noon to 2pm, other activities include a raffle and evening barbecue on Tuesday, pie and pie supper on Wednesday, cake and coffee day on Thursday along with an art exhibition and coffee morning on Friday.

Other activities include afternoon teas, bingo and a sponsored walk.

Volunteer Bridget Robinson-Clarke and Sarah Thompson from Bell Beauty Salon will be hosting a nail and eyebrow day on Tuesday, along with mini-massages for £10.

Joanne Rose, a member of Next Steps has also volunteered to have her head-shaved at The Academy in Norton on Wednesday.

"We have tried to do activities that everyone can get involved with, not just the staff here, and all the members are looking forward to it," Leisa said.

"It is fantastic that Joanne has agreed to have her head-shaved as well and a very brave thing to do and we would love people to sponsor her.
