PRINCESS Anne will be a special guest at the 160th Great Yorkshire Show this summer.

Her Royal Highness will visit on Wednesday, July 11, meeting officials, competitors and exhibitors at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate.

The show, one of the biggest of its kind in the UK, will take place from July 10 to 12.

More than 130,000 visitors and 8,500 animals flock showground every year for the three-day show and plans are already in hand for the landmark event.

Equestrian dynamo Lorenzo will return to the main ring with his daredevil bare-back display as one of the 2018 show highlights and celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager will whip up a storm in the cookery theatre.

In the judging rings, thousands of animals will compete from cattle to sheep, pigs to pigeons and the show finishes with one of the most prestigious showjumping classes in the country, the Cock O’ The North competition.

There will also be entertainment, shopping, live music, cookery demos and a professional catwalk fashion show – including a one-off celebrity special. The Princess Royal has

visited the show a number of times, most recently in 2014, and will be hosted by show director Charles Mills.

Mr Mills said: “We are honoured by Her Royal Highness’s visit and it is always wonderful to welcome a visitor with such a genuine interest in farming and the countryside.

“We will be able to show the Princess some of the best animals in the country as well as the very best of rural life, food and farming.”
