TOURISM businesses across the North York Moors National Park have the opportunity to benefit from a new overseas visitor marketing initiative which kicks off next month.

The National Park is participating in The English National Park Experience Collection, which aims to create a branded collection of experiences that will be promoted to the travel trade, initially targeting the Australian and

German markets.

To begin the two-year initiative an overseas marketing event will be held at the Mallyan Spout hotel in Goathland on Tuesday, May 1, to outline how the programme will benefit accommodation, attractions, experience and activity providers as well as guides and those keen to showcase the National Park’s qualities.

The free event will also provide businesses with more detail on the target markets, the type of immersive visitor experiences that will be created, and the business support and training that will be available.

The business support programme will be led by Susan Briggs of the North York Moors Tourism Network who has over 30 years’ experience in tourism marketing, including many years working with the travel trade, particularly in Germany and other European markets.

She said: “The number of visitors coming to the UK from overseas continues to grow and we know that many are keen to include a visit to a National Park.

“This is why we want to work with local businesses to create truly memorable packages and stand-out experiences that will help the North York Moors capitalise on the potential overseas footfall and spend.”

The English National Park Experience Collection is part of the three-year £40 million Discover England Fund announced by Government in 2015 to ensure that England stays competitive in the rapidly growing global tourism industry, by offering world-class English tourism products to the right customers at the right time.
