MALTON Hospital's League of Friends was the chosen charity of this year's show president Bob Mansell.

The league's new chairman, Rebecca Render, said they were delighted to have been nominated.

"This is the first time we have been chosen as the show's charity and it really helps to highlight who we are and what we do," she said.

"We have recently donated £120,000 to the urology unit at Malton Hospital and have a further £65,000 earmarked for equipment."

The League of Friends to Malton,Norton and District Hospital has been operating since 1977 for the benefit of Malton Hospital and patients and families.

Its aims are to encourage interest in the work of Malton Hospital and raise funds for the facility, as well as providing any other objects or equipment found necessary from time to time for staff, patients and families

Rebecca added: "Malton is such a hope that it needs its hospital to support the local community both young and old.

The League of Friends has pledged to continue supporting the efficient running of the hospital by providing vital necessary equipment thereby enabling Malton Hospital to move forward and be able to offer new and up to the minute treatment and diagnosis."
