ENTRIES are being submitted in the run-up to the Farndale Show, which takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, August 29.

Entries for all classes (except clear round jumping, gymkhana, dog classes and sports) will close on Saturday, August 13.

Gill Little, show secretary, said: "Why not have a go at entering your prize-winning onions or hunt out that secret recipe for the best jam or chutney.

"With classes ranging from sheep to vintage tractors, baking to gladioli there is sure to be something for everyone. You might even take home a trophy or two."

The fully-titled Farndale Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial show, now in its 109th year, is a small agricultural show set in the heart of the North York Moors.

Among the special attractions this year will be Philippa Williams and her team from Dogs for Life. Regular attendees at Crufts, at Farndale the team will be demonstrating the skills of Ms Williams's dogs in a more natural environment.

She will give an insight into reward-based training methods, and as well as display work, will be available to answer questions throughout the day.

Birds of prey will be on display with the static display and flying shows of Owl Adventures, there will be a Dennis Easton sheep-shearing demo, and the Commondale Wool Spinners will also put on a display.

In addition, the Bilsdale Silver Band will be providing music, there will be Clydesdale horses on show, terrier racing, sheepdog trials, a beagle parade, and challenges such as a tug o' war and bale push.

Farndale Show will be take place at the Showfield, Church Houses, Farndale, YO62 7LH. Gates open to exhibitors at 8am, and to the public from 10am.
