YOUNG farmers' ploughing skills have been put to the test at a competition in Ryedale.

Rillington Young Farmers Club (YFC) held their annual ploughing match at a field on the Scampston estate. A total of 60 tractors and ploughs took part.

Zoe Vitty, from the club, said: "The day started off well with the sun shining and dry weather, although the wind was cold. We considered it to be a good turn out.

"We would like to thank Scampston estates, and Hobsons Farming Co. for allowing us to host the event on their land, their support was very much appreciated.

"We would also like to thank all our judges and stewards for their continued support.

"We have yet to total what we have raised but the money made will go toward much needed club funds."

Anyone interested in joining Rillington YFC can go along to meetings held every Tuesday at 7.30pm. Details of meetings can be found on Facebook or by texting or phoning chairman James Taylor on 07746 751802.
