LAST year’s Rosedale Show has been hailed a financial success, despite the indifferent weather.
Malcolm Leckonby, the show’s vice-chairman and secretary, said the show, which was first staged in 1871, continued to be one of the most popular in North Yorkshire.
This year’s show will be held on Saturday, August 15, at its long established venue, the Milburn Arms Fields.
The committee is now planning the schedule of classes and events, but is anxious to attract new members to help in the organisation.
This year’s president will be Mavis Davison, a stalwart of the show for many years, and well known supporter of the Ryedale Young Farmers Club movement.
She and her husband lived at Appleton Mill for many years before moving to Pickering.
Other officers elected at the annual meeting of Rosedale Agricultural and Horticultural Show were: chairman Sam Dring; treasurer Lesley Ellis; safety officer Colin Westwood; trade stand secretary Martin Schumann and sponsorship secretary Margaret Truran.
