A FUN-FILLED insight into the countryside and rural life is on the horizon as Springtime Live approaches.

Organised by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, Sunday, March 22, will see the second Springtime Live, which is aimed particularly at families with young children.

The society is best known as the organiser of the annual Great Yorkshire Show.

Bill Cowling, show director, said: “Springtime Live made its debut last year – and proved a great success, so we are building on that for our second event.

“We have included the popular elements from last year, but brought in some new attractions too.”

Topping the timetable is television’s Mr Bloom, from CBeebies’ Mr Bloom’s Garden, whose aim to enthuse children about gardening and nature fits well with the event’s ethos, said Mr Cowling.

Also new will be the opportunity to try a form of tightrope walking, courtesy of The Slackline Company.

There willalso be farm animals, lots of hands-on activities – from rug making and dry stone walling and from mountain biking to bread making.

In addition, there will be workshops and stands with a wide range of products including food, toys and gifts.

Tickets bought in advance are £8 for adults and £5 for children, or on the gate, £10 for adults and children are £5. Under threes are free.

Parking is free and extensive. Please note dogs, other than assistance dogs are not permitted on the showground.
