NORTH Yorkshire farmers can learn about the benefits of winter cover crops at a free event held by the Campaign for the Farmed Environment (CFE).

The event is on Tuesday, December 2 at Manor Farm, Kelfield, at 9am and again at 1pm.

Topics covered include different cover crops used on the farm, establishment techniques and their benefits for the farm business and the environment.

Richard Bramley, host farmer for the event, said: “I have been growing cover crops for a number of years because I see real long-term benefits by capturing nitrogen over winter, improving soil structures, enhancing levels of organic matter and benefiting the environment.”

Richard and other industry experts will be on hand to offer advice on the benefits and potential pitfalls of cover crops.

Bookings can be made up to the day. Contact Sarah Maughan by text or call on 07432 562198 or email yorkshirenortheast@cfeonline.org.uk
