A NORTH Yorkshire family rapeseed oil producer has won a national award.
The team at a North Yorkshire family rapeseed oil producer is celebrating after winning a coveted two gold stars at the Great Taste 2014 awards.
Thixendale-based Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil’s Oak Smoked Rapeseed Oil won a coveted two star accolade in the world’s largest and most rigorous food awards scheme that involved over 400 judges and thousands of hours of blind tasting.
Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil’s Adam Palmer, who collaborated with East Yorkshire businessman Justin Staal, from Staal Smokehouse, to smoke the oil that is grown on Wolds chalk, said: “Our Oak Smoked Rapeseed Oil has only been available for a few months so we’re delighted that its taste and quality has been rewarded.”
