HUNDREDS of horses and ponies will be competing at the Boon Hill Show on Saturday, August 9.
A range of riding events will be staged at what is now ranked as one of the biggest equine shows in North Yorkshire, said event chairman Bob Gibson.
It is expected to see the biggest equine entry in its history with an estimated 400-plus taking part in the event, which is being held at the Woodmansey family’s Boon Hill Farm, Newton-upon-Rawcliffe.
“We have introduced more pony classes this year to cope with the number of competitors,” said Mr Gibson, who has been involved with the show from its inception.
With entrants from as far as Durham, Newcastle, Barnsley and Rotherham, competition is expected to be keen in all the main events, which will include hound trails, gun dog trials, terrier and lurcher national championship qualifying events.
The show, which was founded in 1962, will also have the usual classes for gardeners, home bakers, crafters, artists and children.
