A YOUNG artist is using her talents to help raise money for flooded farms across the country.

Lauren Terry, 24, created her “Nice Weather for Ducks” painting after what started out as a five-minute doodle on a scrap piece of paper gave her an idea to help support her loyal fan base.

“My cows make people smile and in a time like this everyone could do with a laugh,” she said.

“My most loyal customers are those from the farming community and if there’s any way in which me and my cows can help them and their cows I want to do it.”

The former Lady Lumley’s School pupil said that after seeing the devastating impact the flooding has had on farmers, particularly in the South, she wanted to team up with national farming charity The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI).

The talented young artist will now sell her painting as both greetings cards and as prints online to raise money for the charity to help those badly affected by the floods.

Two farmers who have been badly affected by the extensive floods in Somerset have thanked Lauren for all of her hard work.

James and Becky Riley, from Northmoor Farm, Somerset, had to evacuate 240 rearing calves, a small suckler herd and beef cattle when the floods washed out their farm, damaging buildings, walls, gateways, fences and bridges.

Becky said: “Lauren’s Cows, how can you put it into words, amazing wonderful, generous and someone who is a true friend to all us farmers on the flooded levels. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
