PLAYDALE Farm Park, Cayton, has won a major accolade in the Farm Attraction of the Year Awards.

Peter Thompson, chairman of the National Farm Attractions Network, said: "The park has shown great imagination in converting old farm buildings into a visitor centre, displaying a good range of indoor play areas. It deserved to be the overall winner in the category for having under 20,000 visitors."

The park, run by the Wilson family, has now opened for the summer season with a huge range of traditional and rare breeds of animals.

Jackie Wilson, who runs the enterprise with her husband, Mark, said children were able to take part in "farmyard fun" and enjoy close contact with alpacas, goats, donkeys, lambs and rabbits. The farm also has an indoor play barn and adventure trail.
