THE Country Land and Business Association (CLA) has welcomed the Government’s decision to clamp down on scrap metal theft.

Regional director Dorothy Fairburn said it was “excellent news” that Home Secretary Theresa May had announced plans to combat metal theft, saying the amendment would create a new criminal offence prohibiting cash payments for the purchase of scrap metal.
