EVERYTHING from Ukrainian cossacks and Wensleydale cheese to fabulous fashion and thousands of the country’s finest animals will be on the agenda for the 2012 Great Yorkshire Show.

One of England’s premier agricultural shows, it takes place from Tuesday, July 10, to Thursday, July 12, at the showground on the edge of Harrogate.

More than 130,000 visitors are expected to flock through the gates for the threeday event covering all aspects of farming and countrylife.

This will be the 154th Great Yorkshire Show organised by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.

Among the highlights of the main ring programme will be the Ukrainian cossacks, here for the first time. They will give a display each day of the event.

Around the showground visitors will be able to enjoy everything from the cookery theatre and garden shows, showjumping and sheep shearing to demonstrations of country skills, including dry stone walling, fly fishing, pole climbing and gundog training. Tickets are available from Thursday, March 1, to Wednesday, July 4, either online at greatyorkshireshow.co.uk or phone 01423 541222. Tickets bought in advance cost – adult £20, concession £19, children £9, family £52; or on the gate – adult £23, concession £22, children £11, family £60.

Meanwhile, the 10th Countryside Live event will take place on Saturday, October 20, and Sunday, October 21, at the Great Yorkshire Showground.

The event will include competitive livestock and equine, pigeon and poultry classes, dog agility, a horticultural show, and cookery theatre and dozens of stands for pre-Christmas shopping.

The popular showjumping talent competition, which made its debut in 2010, will again feature and will be hosted by the equine supremos, Graham and Tina Fletcher.
