YOUNG farmer has won this year’s Deliciouslyorkshire Outstanding Newcomer Award.
Gareth Barlow, from Bulmer, was presented with the award at a ceremony held at Rudding Park, Harrogate.
Host BBC Radio 2’s resident foodie Nigel Barden said: “In such a short space of time Gareth has shone as a newcomer within the Yorkshire food and drink industry.
“His hard work and determination has resulted in his fantastic lamb being featured in many top restaurants.”
Gareth, who breeds and rears premium rare breed Hebridean lamb on the Castle Howard Estate, supplies meat direct to the customer and various restaurants in both Yorkshire and London, including the Black Swan at Oldstead, recent recipient of a Michelin star.
The 21-year-old said: “It was an honour to win the Outstanding Newcomer award and I’m delighted that my lamb is held in such high regard by knowledgeable foodies and top class chefs.”
