Harry off to royal start
Blinkbonny Prince Harry
Blinkbonny Prince Harry

Norton-based Tessa Nelson is the breeder and proud owner of the super three-year-old coloured gelding Blinkbonny Prince Harry.

This duo took the coloured horse showing world by storm in 2007 with numerous triumphs throughout the year, culminating in winning the prestigious title of Supreme Champion at the Coloured Horse and Pony Society (CHAPS) National Championship Show held at Myerscough, Preston last September.

Tessa and Harry attended their first show of 2008 on Sunday, April 20, the British Skewbald and Piebald Association (BSPA) North East Star Show held near Durham.

They have started the year with a flourish by taking first place in the Open Youngstock and Sports Horse Youngstock classes, then winning the Overall Champion Sports Horse title.

The icing on the cake for Tessa was to end the day by taking the grand title of Supreme In-hand Champion.

"It was nice to get that under my belt," says Tessa, who has now qualified for the World Championships of Colour being held at Keysoe, Bedfordshire in August.

Their next outing will be to the CHAPS Regional Show being held on Sunday, May 18 at Richmond.

This show is a qualifier for the CHAPS National Show 2008. Tessa and Harry will also be competing at the Royal Show held at Stoneleigh in June and the Great Yorkshire Show held at Harrogate in July. We will follow their progress and keep you updated.
