Little Tinker gets day off to winning start at Carr Farm

THE competition season continues to gather momentum at Carr Farm with an increasing number of riders turning out for the Friday evening showjumping events.

The grass arenas provide a good surface to introduce young horses to outdoor competition and the relaxed atmosphere at the Wykeham-based venue can help to instil confidence in even the most nervous rider.

Harriet Stephenson got last week’s show off the ground with a win in the opening class riding Little Tinker. Alexis Simpson was the winner of the horse section on Troy before notching up the second leg of a double in the 75cm.

Persistence paid off for Snainton-based Chloe Howarth. After taking the runner-up spot in the two previous classes, Chloe went one better in the 85cm riding Finn.

The results were as follows:

65cm Ponies: 1 Harriet Stephenson & Little Tinker, 2 Chloe Howarth & Finn.

65cm Horses: 1 Alexis Simpson on Troy, 2 Sarah Coverdale & Rico, 3 Catherine Gilling & Quinn.

75cm Ponies: 1 Lauren McNicole & Jack, 2 Chloe Howarth & Finn, 3 Harriet Stevenson & Little Tinker; 75cm Horses: 1 Alexis Simpson & Troy, 2 Amy Pearson & Stan, 3 Catherine Gilling & Quinn.

85cm Ponies: 1 Chloe Howarth & Finn, 2 Sasha Owen & Rio; 85cm Horses: 1 James Bell & Molly, 2 Gabby Floris & Basil.
