Good mix of event classes

THE Middleton Hunt Pony Club’s May Show at Everingham on Sunday comprised a good mix of event horse classes, working hunters and ridden showing.

Fourteen-year-old Bethany Shipley, from Sheriff Hutton, is rapidly carving out a name for herself in the equine world.

Her impressive catalogue of results includes numerous national titles, so it came as no surprise when she took the top honours in the Burghley Event Pony class riding her grey, Breffne Brou.

Second spot went the way of Lois Teal (15), from Norton, riding Castle Quarter Totti, and the combination later went on to win the Style Hunter Pony. Third place went to Spaunton-based Rachel Lunney (14) on Tangerine Dream.

The top three riders all qualified for the Ponies (UK) Burghley Event Pony Finals at Burghley Horse Trials in September.
