THERE was intense competition at the Middleton Hunt Pony Club Team and Individual Showjumping competition at Eddlethorpe last week.

The ever-popular event attracted 194 entries and made good viewing for spectators. Even the weather was kind as a break in the clouds kept the rain away until well into the afternoon.

It was a combination of the youngest members of the Middleton and Holderness Pony Clubs that got the day off to a great start when they clinched team victory in the eight years and under section.

The 75cm and 85cm classes were particularly competitive and heralded victories for the Middleton Hunt (East side) Red team and Middleton Hunt Red respectively.

The Middleton Hunt team comprising Sophie and James Richardson, Jade Hutchinson-Archer and Callum Small, valiantly fought off some fierce competition to notch up a good win in the 85cm, while the individual title went the way of Lily Spencer, representing the Sinnington Hunt branch.

The 95cm team title also went to Middleton Hunt after powerful performances by Hannah Milner, Lois Teal, Sophie Richardson and Jade Hutchinson-Archer. Norton-based rider Teal also topped the leaderboard for the individual awards.

The Middleton Hunt Pony Club would like to express their thanks to David Hodsman, who allowed the use of his field at Kennels Farm.
