MORE than 200 point-to-point riders, trainers, owners and enthusiasts gathered at York Racecourse to celebrate the Yorkshire Area Point-to- Point Season Championship Awards.

The Tennants Auctioneers Gentlemen’s Championship saw a long-awaited victory for Guy Brewer, who had been placed eight times before his triumph this season.

He also picked up the Alan Smith Award for the jockey with the most wins. During his career, Guy has ridden 109 winners and struck up successful partnerships with horses such as Elizadoalott and Ask Bobby.

The White Rose Saddlery Ladies Championship was taken for a fifth time by leading point-to-point rider Jacqueline Coward, who ended the season with a tally of seven winners in the Yorkshire area.

The Cundalls Novice Championships went to Ryan Winks and Lucy Sutcliffe.

Lucy and her sister Kate completed a one-two in the novice championship.

Lucy had enjoyed a great combination with the family-owned and trained Nile Moon. The pair recorded three successes, two in the Yorkshire area.

Coniston Hall hotelier Tom Bannister took the Northern Bookmakers Protection Association Open Horse and R A Bethall Memorial Trophy for the horse with the most wins with My Old Piano.

The NBPA Novice horse went to Chip N Pin, both trained by David Easterby.

Owner, trainer and rider Sam Drake had her horses in winning form this season which saw her take the JAG Burnell & Son leading owner trophy.

Ride of the Season went to a surprised Will Milburn, who expected to be announcing and presenting the award rather than receiving it. He rode his first winner on Adin Abroad at the Bilsdale meeting when they disputed the lead with My Clementine until four out, then quickened away to win by an impressive ten lengths.
