Malton District Riding Club were astonished to receive a letter of congratulations from the British Riding Club’s headquarters at Stoneleigh.

It informed them that their junior and senior one day event teams have both qualified for the BRC area one day event championships being held at Offchurchbury on August 8, 9, 10.

Team trainer and club chairperson Nicky Lyons and the riders themselves were unaware of this achievement prior to the arrival of the letter last week.

The junior team comprising of Charlotte Knock and Paddy, Kristina Withers and Amber Gold, Alice Hesmondhalgh and Kosmic Clover and Adeline Jones and Bertie Boynton were placed second of seven teams competing at the area one day event held at Bishop Burton on Sunday, June 1.

The senior team comprising of Louise Knock and Chili, Katrina Wood and Boot Up, Jo Midgley and Lampos and Jamie Kerr and Belter finished third of 24 teams at the area event.

Good luck to all riders - the Gazette & Herald will let you know how they get on.

Malton District Riding Club has also announced the launch of a new website and this can be found at www.maltonridingclub.co.uk.

The site has been designed by David Walker of Malton Web Design (www.malton-webdesign.co.uk) and will be updated on a regular basis by club secretary Katrina Wood.
