THE British Riding Clubs Area 4 hunter trial took place on Sunday at Epworth near Doncaster and produced a fantastic success for Malton District Riding Club.
Malton District's team in the senior novice class, comprising Katrina Wood on Boot Up, Jo Midgley on Lampos, Katie Brickman on Moonlight Matilda and Helen Garfitt riding Mabel, all had flawless performances and produced super clear rounds.
Malton District was the only team to have four clears on the day, making them overall winners out of 16 teams competing in the class, and they were extremely proud to bring home the trophy.
It was Jo Midgley's first major crosscountry event on her ex-racehorse Lampos and Katrina Wood had not competed at this type of event for a full year because of injury.
Katie Brickman, who is well known in dressage circles, has now proven extremely capable over the jumps, too. Helen Garfitt also took individual second place in the class with her round.
Malton juniors also had a great day with Callum Small taking individual fifth place in the junior novice with his pony Briardale Rainbow Quest. This was his first competition representing Malton club and his first bash at an area event.
Adeline Jones managed an excellent third place in the junior open class on her horse Visija.
This victory means the team have now qualified to compete at the Hunter Trial Championships on May 31 at Aston le Walls, Northants.
