MEMBERS of the Sinnington Hunt Pony Club excelled at the Pony Club Championships at Cholmondley Castle last weekend.

Fifteen members of the club, all of whom previously qualified from Area competitions, travelled down to Cheshire to take part in the Berkeley PC Championships.

In the showjumping, Charlotte Blenkin and Hillside Monet won the Intermediate showjumping competition out of a field of 75. Nicky Lumley of the club said: “A huge well done - an incredible partnership and an amazing achievement.”

The Novice showjumping team of Sky Otterburn, Lottie Combe, Amelia Brennan Vacarro and Amy Hayhurst came joint 14th. Ms Lumley added: “A special mention to Amelia who jumped a super double clear riding The Midnight Fox.”

In the Eventing, there was another top result for the Novice team of Sky Otterburn, Georgina Prest, Ella Turnbull and Amelia du Boulay who came 12th. Kitty Denny represented the club as an individual on a challenging XC course. Ms Lumley said: “She rode it like a pro.” Isabella Armitage on Rahally Artist came sixth in the Intermediate eventing on Tuesday.

On the Sunday the Junior games team, Joe Lumley, Alex Cordingley, Ruby Thompson, Bronwen Davies and Harriet du Boulay came a superb 10th place.

Romy Cordingley, DC of the club, said: “Many thanks to all the riders and also the parents of those competing over the past few days. I know there have been weeks of training sessions etc, but the children’s hard work and determination has most definitely paid off.”

Ms Lumley thanked instructors Mandy Snowdon and Ann Sibsey for their help, and Niki Otterburn for training the games team all year.
