RIDERS from Scarborough & District riding club are making final preparations to open this season’s competition diary.

The Area 4 Winter Team Showjumping Qualifier for seniors will be held on Sunday, February 26 at Bishop Burton College near Beverley.

Sponsored by KBIS for the Novice and Equi-Theme for the Intermediate sections, this opening Area qualifier is always a hotly-contested competition.

The entries representing Scarborough & District took the winner’s podium in the Novice section and fifth place in the Intermediate in 2016.

Chief d’équipe Jane Garwood will be on site supporting the competitors.

She said: “This year we are sending three excellent teams in the Novice section and, naturally, we are hoping to repeat the success of last year.

“Our 2017 teams are a mixture of previously successful combinations, some new partnerships and some members who are representing the club for the first time.

“Our Intermediate team are also hoping for the success which has narrowly eluded them in the past two years.

“This is a particular aim for the club as the Equi-theme Intermediate Championship was the only BRC Championship that Scarborough was not represented at last year.”

Scarborough & District have a policy of “inclusive club membership”, which means they provide subsidised training opportunities and supportive encouragement to members aiming to compete at Area level.
