THE competition is hotting up in the dressage championships at Beckside Livery stables near Whitby.

Cara Shardlow from the stables said: “We finally had a dry night although rather cold, the competition was very hot, with only one event after tonight to decide our Horslyx champions.

“The PYO class is the most competitive with three people in the running for the championship, although Lauren Burton took the win riding Magic Prince producing a lovely test. Jacqui Shipman who came second, took over the lead in the points, leaving everything to play for in the final competition.

“The Intro is also hotting up with tonight’s winner Beverly Hudspith riding her own Harriet snapping at long time leader Vicci Smith’s heels, this will be close fought until the end.

“Bethany Hodges riding Wendy Harrowing’s Cynfein Lady Roxstar won the Prelim. This is a change in career for the horse who normally show jumps with Wendy’s daughter who is off with a broken arm.

“Carina Hankin was uncontested in the junior sections, and is now way ahead in the points championship riding her own Toby.”

Ms Shardlow added that she is encouraging more juniors to compete. “It would be lovely to see some at the next competition on June 29.”
