A TEST of horsemanship has been held at Lacys Cottage Riding School in Scrayingham.
Young riders in the pony club had to demonstrate their skills as part of the progressive silver and bronze test. Among many skills they had to be able to name different parts of the saddle and bridle, handle the ponies with confidence and good road-sense, adjust a girth while mounted and understand the green cross code.
As the school is a Pony Club centre, the members who don't have their own horse or pony and can use the riding school ponies.
Nicky Pimlott, of the school, said: "The children did very well to gain their certificates. The riding school is all outdoors, so as well as having two outdoor arenas, members enjoy showjumping and cross-country jumping in the fields in the summer months, as well as the summer camp which is always looked forward to in July."
