THE winter dressage series at Friars Hill Stables in Sinnington concluded last week with an award ceremony for the winners and best riders.

Following the sixth and final competition of the series, rosettes were awarded to the winners of each class: Paula Appleby and Eclipse in the intro A, Fiona Hill and Grey in the prelim 4, and Christine Waite and Aero in both the prelim 7 and the novice 30.

Trophies and sashes were also awarded in each category. The trophy results are for those who are placed consistently throughout the competition. Local rider Paula Appleby, who said she has never won anything before this competition, received her trophy and sash for the Intro class with her horse Eclipse.

Winner of the Best in Class Two trophy and sash, and also the best Friars Hill Riding Club sash, was Fiona Hill.

Fiona, who had ridden as a youngster, thought she may not ride again. However, after joining the stables, she said a new journey began.

She said: "I started off with lessons, I am now a member of the Friars Hill Riding Club and I enjoy a wide variety of wonderful events organised by Friars Hill Stables. Thank you to everyone, both human and equine."
