GREY skies did not deter the riders at the Derwent Point-to-Point at Charm Park, in Wykeham, on Sunday, with 92 entries received for the six-race card.

Racing started at 12.30pm with the Derwent and Staintondale Hunt members’ race which had received nine entries. This was won by Amy Collier, 23, on Tasheba, ahead of previous winners such as Boy in Bangkok and favourite Lucky Cody.

In her first season, Amy has partnered Tasheba twice, finishing second last time out at Duncombe Park.

Race two was the Yorkshire Area Point-to-Point Club Members' race, with penalties applied for previous wins. Shantou Prince was the favourite, having won all his starts in UK point-to-points, but the win was taken by Royal Deal, ridden by Jacqui Coward, who pushed the prince into second place.

The Men's Open was hotly-contested, and again saw the favourite being pushed into second place. Will Milburn on Six-A-Side was beaten by Will Easterby on Monsieur Jordain. Sean Murray on Harris finished third.

There were only two finishers in the Ladies' Open. The win went to favourite Young Hurricane and Freya Brewer, with Jacqui Coward's Impact Zone in second.

There were 10 entries for the resurgent Restricted race. After a win at the West of Yore point-to-point mixed open last week, the victory again went to Jack Teal on favourite Arboretum. Asheanymoney was second, ridden by Jacqui Coward.

The final race of the day was the Open Maiden race. Several names were in the running here including favourite Zandino who had run well at Sinnington, but the win went to On Vacation and John Dawson. Will Easterby was second on Stagecoach Jasper.

The going was good to soft.
