THORNTON Lodge, Easingwold, held the last of their hunter trials for this year with a fantastic turnout.

It was also a qualifier for the Horseware championship to be held at Eland Lodge next year with the first three combinations qualifying.

With Halloween being the theme, many combinations turned out in fancy dress for the occasion with young William Midgley and his pony, Misty, taking the best overall fancy dress. The Raper family had put much effort into the course turning every fence into something ghoulish, with graveyards, witches, cauldrons, skeletons and bones around the whole course.

Sue said: “It was fantastic to see all the smiling faces come over the finish line as they completed the spooky long course.”

Harry Lumley was the winner in the first class of the day, on board Apollo, just nudging Lauren Robinson into second place.

Ruby Thompson and Jaffa had a fantastic round in the junior novice with a good fast paced clear, Lucy Dyer and Tom Midgley, both from Malton, finished third and fourth respectively.

The hotly-contested senior novice went to Victoria Greetham and Tommy, who cruised round without a single spook at the scary fences. The open saw the ever consistent, Lauren Burton and Archie take top spot over Leo Bramham and Apache Warrior.
