MALTON Riding Club held what is most likely their last dressage competition of the season last Sunday.

It was a busy day for affiliated British dressage judge, Marje Coultas, who had been judging at Bishop Burton horse trials in the morning and then made the dash to Malton Riding Club’s dressage field to judge in the afternoon.

Jess Johnson was once again on top form riding Fiona Singleton’s horse, Finn. The pair had a huge 12-point lead in the intro a test, along with a five point lead over Malton’s newest member, Audrey Braux and Blue Avon, a retrained racehorse. Audrey and Blue Avon were getting in some final dressage practice in readiness for the first attempt at British Eventing at the popular Askham Bryan venue next weekend. Michaela Roberts and One Foot in Front just narrowly beat Sal Atkinson and Becks on collective marks in the prelim fourteen to finish third and fourth respectively.

Michaela also took first place in the novice thirty, by a short margin over Nicola Dennis and Giddy Heights.

The results were: Intro A – 1 Jess Johnson & Finn, 2 Nicola Dennis & Giddy Heights, 3 Michaela Raines & Wanders.

Prelim 14 – 1 Jess Johnson & Finn, 2 Audrey Braux & Blue Avon, 3 Michaela Roberts & One Foot in Front, 4 Sal Atkinson & Beckendale Star, 5 Nicola Dennis & Giddy Heights.

Novice 30 – 1 Michaela Roberts & One Foot in Front, 2 Nicola Dennis & Giddy Heights.
