BRITISH dressage rider Natalie Widdowson and her chestnut gelding Gorgeous George have once again been flying the flag for our local area.

The pair made the trip to Manor Grange Stud, Knottingley, for the Petplan area festival.

Natalie and Gorgeous George, who hail from Flixton, have been competing all over the country attending premier league competitions with consistent scores and placings throughout intermediate one level and prix st georges.

The pair, who regularly train with Becky Moody, turned the tables on the recent regional competition outing, where Natalie said the normally flamboyant George felt a bit flat and not his usual self.

However, this time Gorgeous George more than made up for it, with a fluent and accurate test to win the warm up class along with an easy win in the intermediate one with nearly four per cent in hand.

The pair will now qualify for the winter national Petplan championships to be held at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire, in April. Meanwhile, the pair’s next outing will be at the Vale View high profile competition in October.

Meanwhile, Natalie will be kept busy keeping George up to scratch, along with her other ride, Hester Majestic, who is owned by Christine Tyson.

Natalie says Hester Majestic is coming along nicely, having recently won the open novice at Port Royal in a strong class.
