THE last of the season’s dressage and prix caprilli competitions took place at Friars Hill Stables in Sinnington last weekend, with good entries once again.

The prix caprilli is an interesting competition whereby a dressage test is used, but somewhere along the line there will be a couple of jumps thrown into the test.

It is judged like a dressage test with the emphasis on the horse’s way of going, the rider and the horse’s gaits with the jumps taken into account in the same way.

Eliz Cook and her veteran, Boss Tweed, took the honours in the prelim dressage section to narrowly beat Chrissie Waite and Aero.

Chrissie then turned the tables in the prix caprilli to beat Eliz, who was second in that event.

Millie Newton, a regular at Friars Hill, went home pleased with two third rosettes in both the dressage and the prix caprilli riding Luke.

Friars Hill stables’ next competition will be the monthly unaffiliated showjumping competition being held on Sunday, September 20.

The results were: Prelim 13 — 1 Eliz Cook & Boss Tweed, 2 Chrissie Waite & Aero, 3 Millie Newton & Luke, 4 Fiona Hill & Henderson, 5 Sue Bell & Quest, 6 Pippa Charlesworth & Teena.

Prix caprilli — 1 Chrissie Waite & Aero, 2 Eliz Cook & Boss Tweed, 3 Millie Newton & Luke, 4 Sue Bell & Quest, 5 Fiona Hill & Henderson.
