THE competitors representing Malton Riding Club once again pulled out all the stops at the area 4 qualifying dressage and showjumping show held at Epworth Equestrian Centre near Doncaster this weekend.

The show was a qualifier for the championships to be held at Lincoln showground in September.

The club has already done three championships this year bringing home to North Yorkshire two national titles from the possible three.

Saturday’s showjumping competition saw the senior team consisting of Alicia Farey riding Gorbally Boy, Katie Brickman, Samantha Bell and Bridie Holowkiewicz pull off an amazing two rounds to win outright on seven penalties with their nearest rivals, Ackworth, finishing on 16 penalties. Alicia also managed an individual fourth and Katie an individual sixth.

The senior style jumping team, Alicia Farey, Katie Brickman, Katie Robertshaw and Samantha Bell finished a creditable team fifth place, with Alicia gaining another individual fourth.

The junior novice showjumping team finished third with Samantha Brown, Erin Chan and Megan Bell, with Samantha Brown finishing individual third. Amy Small was once again in flying form with the relatively young horse, Triumph, skipping round the open course of a 1.15m, making it look so easy to win, and Jess Johnson finishing individual fourth.

Sunday’s dressage day saw the Malton junior teams once again winning the summer titles for the fifth year running. The team this year consisted of Amy Small, Erin Chan, Megan Bell and Ellie Fairclough for both the riding test and the dressage, all getting placed individually. Amy Small also won the individual junior elementary test.

The club sent two senior riding test teams, with the purple team of Katie Robertshaw, Jess Johnson, Chloe Fairley and Samantha Bell finishing fifth as a team and Chloe on The Happy Prince scoring the highest marks of the day on a cracking 88 per cent. The gold team of Katie Brickman, Alicia Farey, Chloe Fairley and Jess Johnson finishing sixth.

The final team of the day for the novice dressage saw, Alicia Farey, Katie Brickman, Katie Robertshaw and Angela Moore finish a very creditable fifth from 13 teams, with Katie Brickman individual second and Katie Robertshaw individual sixth.

The club's next outing will be to the horse trials championships in August where Jess Johnson, Katie Brickman and Erin Woodhead will be fighting for their place on the leader board.
