EVENT rider and British Eventing Development coach Phil Brown has made a good start to his 2015 season with a win at Bradwall Horse Trials in Cheshire recently.

Phil, sponsored by Premier Equine, took top spot in his BE100 section on board Harry Robinson, a seven-year-old gelding owned by Kate Lyon.

The horse is a new ride for Phil, having arrived at his base in Folkton, near Scarborough, in February.

The pair scored 22 in the dressage phase followed by a double clear within the time to take the win.

The pair’s most recent outing at Richmond, which was the only day the event managed to run from the three days scheduled due to wet ground conditions, proved yet another fruitful day for Phil, having notched up a 10th place, in what was the horse’s first novice level outing, with just a few time faults to add to his dressage score.

This win follows some solid performances earlier in the season from Phil and his more experienced horse, Miss Brodie. Owned by Phil and the Jules syndicate, Miss Brodie jumped a great double clear to finish third in a hotly-contested Intermediate section at Lincolnshire Horse Trials back in March, as well as posting another double clear in the CIC** at Burgham International.

Miss Brodie and Phil also managed a run at Richmond in the intermediate section, once again just a couple of time faults added to their total score to finish 13th.

The pair now head to their first Advanced at Chatsworth in May.
