TEAM Friars Hill at Sinnington is just that, a complete team, from the younger children just starting out to those who have competed successfully all over the country.

The past few weeks has seen little deviation from their talented efforts.

The holidays began with a hard fought battle at the Staintondale Shield Pony Club quiz. It went all the way to the wire with Friars Hill clinching the tie-breaker, with team members Rebecca Champion, Fiona Hardman, Sophie Lunn and Charlotte Beal.

Next on the list was a long journey down to Wales to the David Broome Showjumping Winter League Finals.

The old faithful campaigner, Buster, managed to secure a bronze medal with Fiona Hardman and under her superb riding took the silver medal with the relative novice Robert.

“Robert was broken in and ridden away at Friars Hill and Fiona has done a marvellous job bringing him on,” said Alison, though he is now sadly for sale.

Jody Salton educated a youngster, Murphy, and collected a fistful of rosettes, as did Ceri Owen, riding her own horse Clyde.

With a quick turn around and collection of another set of horses, Team Friars Hill journeyed to Warwickshire for the National Riding Schools Championships.

Charlotte Hutchinson took the under-12s honours, riding Lady Kirk’s New Forest pony Nicky.

Rebecca Champion took the over-18s dressage championship and all other team members were placed in the top 10.

One of the teams consisting of Charlotte Hutchinson, Fiona Hill and Rebecca Champion took the honours for the Best Team.

The team consisted of Charlotte Hutchinson, Chloe Gamble and Charlotte Beal in the under-12s team.

The 13 to 17 years team was: Jody Salton, Fiona Hardman and Grace Mitchell and the over-18s team consisted of Sandra Thurlow, Fiona Hill and Rebecca Champion. Jess Thurlow competed in the over-18s dressage.

With no let up in Alison’s calendar, it was then on with the shoot and showjumping competition.

In the shoot element, competitors had to shoot a distance of seven metres followed by a showjumping element in which there was a course of jumps which had an optimum time allowed. There were four classes to choose from: 55cm, 65cm, 75cm and 85cm and all competitors had a great time.

All did their shoot training at Friars Hill and have been practising for a while.

Many thanks must go out to the parents who supported the children and the tremendous amount of hard work put in by the stable staff.

The results were: 55cm – 1 Sophie Knowles & Comet, 2 Charlotte Hutchinson & Lulu, 3 Charlotte Beal & Meme, 4th Jeanette Fitzgerald & Jimmy, 5 Sue Miller & Nicky, 6 Jody Salton & Henderson.
