PORT Royal’s dressage competitions are buzzing as per usual with Heidi Woodhead, from Flaxton, preparing her horses in readiness for the British Eventing season.

She took all but one of the first five placings in the pick-your-own test series at the competition.

Michelle Johnson and her mount, Derwen True Lapis, scored a double in the prelim 1 and 3, narrowly beating Katie Brickman, who had Moonlight Matilda back out on the circuit after a break.

Twelve-year-old Caitlin Brownlee, from Strensall, had her first attempt at novice level, scoring more than 60 per cent in both to gain a first and second place. The results were: Pick your own – 1 Heidi Woodhead & Lulu, 2 Heidi Woodhead & Pom, 3 Beth Stephenson & Lulu, 4 Heidi Woodhead & Bruce, 5 Heidi Woodhed & JD.
