THE blanket of fog did not deter Malton Riding Club members from making the most of the remaining regular club competitions for this year.

All but one of the entrants braved the weather and were rewarded with the sun emerging at noon.

Tessa Nelson put up a fantastic test with her coloured mare, Greenforth Lilly, in the intro, winning to win by a large margin of 10 marks, and then taking third place in the prelim 14, which was very closely marked, with less than four marks between the top five places.

Fiona Wainwright made her first appearance at the club’s field competing in the prelim 14 and the novice 28, gaining a second and third respectively.

Young rider Erin Chan, the only junior in the dressage, showed the seniors how it should be done, winning to win both the prelim and novice tests.

Michaela Roberts and her ex-racehorse, One Foot in Front,, who was in Langton by Nigel Tinkler, seem to have mastered the dressage phase, after a year of hard work to retrain him.
