The Middleton pony club had a good turn out of entries for their show cross and one day event last Sunday, held at the venue of Chris and Suzanne Hoggard, Howe Bridge Farm, Low Marishes.

With some good dressage scores, but with both the show jumping and cross country phases had faults distributed throughout for some of the competitors, mainly due to the heavy showers that persisted throughout the morning.

The cross country phase, which held a wide variety of fences over a flowing course, got the thumbs up from the competitors to the course builders, John Teal, Chris Hoggard and Jane Blades.

There was a good mix of age groups among the pony club members who had some stiff competition from the local British Eventing riders, who took the opportunity to support their local pony club, a few of which were Middleton pony club members in their younger days.

Helen Bosanquet from Flaxton who was once herself a regular Middleton pony club member, participating in all pony club teams, rallies and camps, took time out from her busy British Eventing schedule to support her old club, on board her stunning black mare, Gracie Fields, where the pair had a superb day to win class three.

The entries secretary, Katie Stephens-Grandy said “A good day was had by all the competitors with no serious mishaps, and on behalf of the Middleton pony club a big thank you to our hosts, Chris and Suzanne Hoggard, course builders, all our sponsors, and to those who gave their time to help run such a successful event”.
