LUCY CARVER, 15, from Weaverthorpe, has qualified Powerstation, her 148cm coloured nine year old pony, for the Horse of the year Show pony foxhunter final.

Lucy made the six-hour journey to Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre, Fareham, in Hampshire, last weekend where the pair jumped a triple clear in a fast time to finish third in the qualifier making the journey worthwhile.

The first round measured 1.20m, which proved to be very technical and included an open water obstacle.

The second round measured about 1.30m and the third round about 1.40m, with the height and width causing problems for some of the ponies without the added pressure of speed against the clock, the track, height and speed was of no concern to this pair on this occasion.

It was Powerstation’s second qualifier this season with Lucy, having travelled to Southview the previous week to try to qualify, but narrowly missing out on the final qualifying places.

Lucy, who is a pupil at Norton College, and is sponsored by Robinsons in Malton, is now aiming for the junior jumper qualifiers, the European Viewing Trials and to contest the Horse of the Year qualifiers with her other ponies in the run up to the Royal International Horse Show where Powerstation and Carnalecka Quickstep will both compete in the winter JC championships.
