THE trailblazers showjumping series and an unaffiliated dressage at Port Royal equestrian centre was as usual well attended.

The trailblazers is a series of competitions to qualify for a championship at Stoneleigh Park, in Warwickshire, at the end on July. Each competitor must for the showjumping achieve a double clear round at whichever height class in the first round in order to qualify for the second round, and then do the same again to gain qualification for the championships. For the dressage the combination must gain fifty eight percent or more in each test.

Jake Gibson rode two foot-perfect rounds on Freddie in the 70 and 75cms giving him qualification, along with Saskia Brookes in the 80cms. Courtney Thompson, riding Charm, also had a fruitful day in the senior jumping, having a double fast clear in both the 85 and 90cms. Eliza Yeardley rounded off her day with two wins in the 95cms and just beating Ellie Sedgewick riding Peachy, by a couple of seconds against the clock to retain a second win.

Junior 80cms – 1 Saskia Brookes & Fergus Foxtrot. Senior 80cms – 1 Latta Charlton & Jinx, 2 Carlie Hillion & Missy, 3 Jordan Thompson & Fred.

Junior 85cms – 1 Ellie Sedgewick & Peachy, 2 Ellie Sedgewick & Fernando III, 3 Owen Patterson & Kiss and Tell.
