WENDY GIBSON had reason to be pleased last Thursday at Port Royal EC dressage competition, when she took the coloured six-year-old mare out on her first outing this year after giving her a break since last October.

Having taken first place in the prelim 7 with a clear lead of eight per cent and a fifth in the BE 92, Romany Princess was bought from Ireland unseen.

She was brought on by Wendy to be an all-round horse, beginning her career with Malton riding club where she was selected for several area competitions and championships and then doing affiliated BE events.

Natalie Widdowson, fresh back from the British dressage winter regional’s at Bishop Burton with Gorgeous George, took Hester Majestic, who she has been riding for his owner since the beginning of January this year, to win the novice 30 and a third in the novice 28.
