YEAR 3 children at Pickering Junior School enjoyed an Ancient Egyptian day last week as part of an ongoing project.
The dress-up day show a host of costumes on display, including Pharaohs, Cleopatras and Mummies, as well as wide a range of activities.
Pupils got the chance to make pita breads from wheat, as well as papyrus from its crop. There was a tasting session to allow children to sample ancient-Egyptian foods such as figs and dates. It ended with a look at the pupils’ homework in which they were asked to recreate ancient Egyptian artefacts.
Year 3 teacher Alison Prytherch said the topic had run over two half-terms.
“The children enjoyed it so much that we decided to continue it,” she said.
