FOOD and drink businesses are being encouraged to enter this year’s Great Taste awards.

The awards honour the best in the industry and one, two or three star accolades are presented to those who are successful.

Previous Ryedale companies who have enjoyed success include Raisthorpe Manor Fine Foods, based in Wharram, which specialises in a range of gins, liqueurs, preserves and chocolates, and Yorkshire Wolds Apples, near Malton.

Entries are judged by hundreds of food experts, from chefs to retailers and food critics, and over the past 21 years, Great Taste judges have blind-tasted more than 90,000 products.

John Farrand, managing director of the Guild of Fine Food and Great Taste organiser, said: “The Great Taste logo is an established and trusted mark; for producers it reflects their hard work and commitment to making a superb tasting food and drink and for consumers it is a recognisable, simple and clear logo that confirms they are buying the most outstanding products on the shelf.”

Members of the Guild of Fine Food have exclusive access to submit their entries at a discounted rate until Sunday, February 1.

Entry opens to all other food producers who supply the independent retail sector on February 2 and will close on February 27.
