A NORTH Yorkshire sawmill was the supplier of choice when fashion designer Stella McCartney needed a handmade larch gate for the launch of her latest collection.
Joiners at Helmsley’s Duncombe Sawmill have seen their craftsmanship showcased at a star-studded Stella McCartney launch during London Fashion Week.
The event launched the 2014 London Stella McCartney Green Carpet Collection. Stars in attendance included Samuel L Jackson, Paul McCartney, Rita Ora, Colin Firth, Drew Barrymore, Alexa Chung, Ellie Goulding, Dakota Johnson and Salma Hayek and editor in chief of American Vogue Anna Wintour.
As part of the event Duncombe Sawmill was asked by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) to create a wooden gate for a Forest Room display, which all attendees walked through to get to the fashion show.
The gate chosen for the Forest Room was one of Duncombe Sawmill’s most popular designs, with the mill undertaking every aspect of production on site.
