The Ian McMillan Orchestra’s Sharp Stories tour takes in Lancaster, Lincoln, London, Liverpool, Rotherham and Abergavenny, with the Terrington leg being the only one in North Yorkshire.
Yorkshire poet, broadcaster and comedian, Ian McMillan, teams up with composer and accordionist, Luke Carver, plus the rest of his orchestra, for this sizzling mix of songs, covering all sorts of subjects.
There are powerful, echoing tales of death by shanty, industrial manoeuvres, dads, voices found, iPod’s, 9/11, mining and the late, great Ronnie Barker.
The Ian McMillan Orchestra has featured on The South Bank Show, Loose Ends, Late Junction, The Mike Harding Show and BBC Proms Plus, and the CD, Sharp Stories, is out on Taith Records.
The show starts at 7.30pm, tickets cost £15 from Terrington Stores, or phone 01653 648488.
Meanwhile, Selection Box ’09 has arrived at the Backotheshop Art Café, showcasing some of the finest arts and crafts from the local area, and is open until December 24.
The exhibition includes metalwork, textile work, ceramics, silver jewellery, wearable art, photography, painting, felted jewellery, drawing, sculpture and much more.
