Liz looks forward to hotel challenge

A NEW general manager has been appointed at the picturesque Wrea Head country house hotel, in Scalby, near Scarborough.

Liz Pimperton recently took over the running of the Wrea Head Hotel, one of several properties, owned by the family-run English Rose Hotels.

Liz joined the company in March 2003 and brings a wealth of experience to the post, having previously held the position of assistant manager at the nearby Hackness Grange, another hotel in the group.

Liz, who lives in Burniston, started her career as a chef, working in the renowned Langham's Brassiere in London.

After a change of heart, she decided that she wanted to move to front of house and began work as receptionist, gradually progressing through the ranks into management.

In fact, running a hotel is part of Liz's make-up, having spent most of her childhood growing up in the prestigious Royal Hotel in Scarborough, where her father was general manager for 25 years.

Liz now has high hopes of putting Wrea Head firmly on the map, boosting its reputation as a leading venue for both leisure and business guests.

"Running hotels in my blood, It's all I've ever really wanted to do.

''I'm delighted to have been given this opportunity.

''Wrea Head is a delightful hotel, an absolute gem, with so much individuality and character.

''I am really looking forward to the challenge of maintaining its unique charm and appeal."
