Y Rock 2 funding secured

The big news for The Ryedale DIY Collective this month is that they have been successful in their bid for just over £5,300 to run Y Rock 2, set to be hosted at Norton Youth Centre field on July 15.

The event is free and will include a number of activities, such as a Rock School, Kiss face painting, T-shirt making and a music cinema throughout the day, as well as a fun fair, side stalls and food.

Of course, the central part to the festival is the music itself. Y Rock 2 will see the first three- way area battle of the bands, with five bands from each area competing (five Ryedale, five York, five East Coast).

The Ryedale team will be announced very shortly, and the lucky five will find themselves performing alongside Dutch band san Andreas (currently on a world tour, and featured on MTV).

The event is being sponsored by www.RockOnTheWeb.co.uk, who will be supplying the fundraising raffle with signed band merchandise from some very well known acts.
