Jobs site at top of tree

A new survey has revealed that fish4jobs, the recruitment website that's part owned by the Gazette & Herald, attracts more jobseekers than any other online jobs site in the UK, with more than 1.6 million people visiting per month.

The NORAS 2006 survey (National Online Recruitment Audience Survey) also shows that fish4jobs is attracting more and more users from all walks of life and job types.

fish4jobs.co.uk, which carries over 40,000 job adverts at any one time, powers the 'jobs search' section on www.thisisryedale.co.uk, the Gazette's local website.

Job vacancies advertised come from all industry sectors, but fish4 particularly specialises in the following areas - retail, sales, engineering, customer service, call centre, construction, driving and IT.

fish4jobs puts its success down to being a big nationwide brand that thinks and acts locally. This means that because it carries more jobs across all parts of the country than anyone else, readers and internet users in the Ryedale area can access hundreds of local vacancies simply by logging on to www.thisisryedale.co.uk.

Sean Mahon, fish4's marketing director, summed up fish4's approach by saying: ''Many other generalist internet job sites tend to carry a heavy weighting of jobs for London and the South East of England. At fish4jobs, we pride ourselves on carrying a multitude of vacancies all over the UK.

''Our local strength is reflected by the increases in the amount of jobseekers that are searching for jobs on fish4 from all over the country, from big cities to rural areas. Not only that, but more and more candidates are registering their CV with us so that recruiters can find them.''

All candidates are big readers of the local press, which is not surprising as fish4 advertises in local papers, including this one, regularly. Finally, and most importantly, the survey found that nearly 50 per cent of fish4jobs users have successfully found a job on the website.
