Chief exec confirmed

DENISE Dodd has been formally named as the new chief executive of york-england.com, the organisation set up to attract inward investment to North Yorkshire.

It is confirmation of the caretaker role Denise assumed when last July her boss, Imelda Havers, suddenly resigned to, in her words, "pursue my career in a different direction".

Following an early career in the financial sector, Denise was office manager for Langleys Solicitors of York and oversaw its refurbishment of Queens House, before going on to manage the Forsyth Business Centre in York.

She joined york-england.com as operations director in May 2003 where she worked as the main link with partner organisations, inward investors and indigenous clients.

Since being made acting chief executive last September, Denise has successfully secured new extra funding for the organisation, and helped to develop a strategy to lure organisations to invest in North Yorkshire.

Brian Percival, chairman of york-england.com, said: "Denise brings with her a wealth of experience and has already done a tremendous amount of work in making york-england.com what it is - a dynamic, forward-thinking body.''
